We had a great afternoon working in the gardens. Warm sun and moist soil perfect for weeding. Dad picked our first lettuces for dinner.

As dad and I sat down to dinner with a great Chicken Ragout on homemade pasta that I learned how to make at a cooking class yesterday, the skies opened up and we had hail!! I hope that everything in the gardens survives.

cooking classes

Dad and I received as a Christmas gift a class of our choice at the Inn at Baldwin Creek -- Mary's Restaurant from the Lands. The menu was Mussels Parisienne, Sauteed Fennel with Almonds, Raisins, and Saffron, Duck Two Ways, Salad Lyonnaise, Pickled Beets and Chocolate Glazed Chocolate Tart. We had a great time. Very inspiring. I am going back for another class at the end of May. Chef Doug Mack was a great instructor. I can't remember the name of the sous chef but she and dad had fun cooking the mussels.
